Flyin' Planes n' Savin' Lives

It Takes A Village

Wings for Paws

The Aloha Aviators are thrilled to announce a heartfelt mission that will bring vital relief to animals who need to be transported and supported in rural California.

On May 16th, at EAA Airport Day in Sonoma Park (0Q9), our incredible volunteer CFIs Eugene, Candace, and Nobi took to the skies to deliver vital animal supplies to Flying Tails — gloves, crates, puppy pads, disinfectant, and more — all collected by our committee and generously donated by THIS amazing community. 🐾

Looking ahead, our volunteer pilots are eager to expand their missions — transporting animals to receive veterinary care and supporting their safe return to the wild after recovery. The sky truly is no limit when compassion takes flight.

None of this is possible without YOU. Every share. Every donation. Every contribution fuels missions like this one. THANK YOU.

A special shoutout to Luna F., our remarkable high school volunteer all the way from Dallas, Texas — who coordinated this entire event LONG-DISTANCE! Navigating time zones, managing logistics, and handling every request with grace and determination. Luna, you are proof that where there's a will, there is absolutely a way. We are so proud of you!

Hygiene Products for Foster Children

This May, nine Aloha Aviators members answered a simple question: what does it feel like to be a child in foster care who runs out of shampoo, or toothpaste, or deodorant — and has no way to get more?

The answer was TWO ✈️ ✈️ planes, packed to the brim.

But before those planes ever left the ground, something else happened that we can't stop thinking about.

A group of high school and college student volunteers didn't wait to be asked twice. They designed posters, went door to door, and collected hygiene products from their own community and classmates to donate to children in need. They just showed up and made it happen.

That's the kind of people we're lucky enough to work alongside.

Together, we flew shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, razors, and more — directly to Rebekah Children's Services in Gilroy, CA. Without delay. Simply people who care, hand-delivering what these kids need to feel clean, confident, and cared for.

The numbers behind this mission:
  • 9 Aloha Aviators volunteers
  • 2 planes
  • $250+ raised in cash donations
  • $500+ in supplies collected and delivered
  • Hundreds of hygiene products in the hands of children who needed them most

This happened because of YOU — and because of a community that keeps showing up for each other.

Every donation — whether $5 or $100, a bottle of shampoo or a pack of razors — went directly to a child. Inflation has made even the most basic essentials hard to come by for many foster families. What seems like a small thing to some of us carries enormous meaning to a kid who already has so little.

And here's what most people don't know about the Aloha Aviators: this mission is only one part of who we are.

The same community that filled these planes is also putting aspiring pilots into cockpits to experience real-world flying— and it can set a trajectory for the rest of their life.

Our mission is simple: break down the financial and systemic barriers that have kept aviation out of reach for too long and show underserved communities that the sky isn't the limit. It's the beginning.

Timely Delivery to S.P.A.'s Furry Residents in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Mission sponsored by the Low Foundation
In an act of generosity that arrived at just the right moment, the Aloha Aviators recently donated a generous supply of cat food and dog food to the Sociedad Protectora de Animales (S.P.A.) in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico — bringing relief and full food bowls to the shelter's beloved animal residents.

Megan, the director of SPA, described the donation as nothing short of a blessing. "The timing couldn't have been better," she said. "We had just run out of treats for our animals." The no-kill shelter is currently home to 25 cats and 30 dogs, all of whom are lovingly cared for by S.P.A.'s dedicated team of volunteers who show up day after day to ensure these animals feel safe, nourished, and loved.

The Aloha Aviators, passionate about community outreach, made the delivery as part of a mission sponsored by the Low Foundation, whose support made this effort possible. Their contribution is a reminder that when compassionate organizations come together, the impact is felt immediately — in this case, in the wagging tails and contented purrs of 55 animals who now have full bowls once again.

S.P.A.'s no-kill mission depends entirely on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and advocates who believe every animal deserves a second chance. Stories like this one help shine a light on that mission and inspire others to get involved.

To everyone who has donated, shared these stories, and helped raise awareness — thank you. This work simply would not be possible without your phenomenal support. You are the heart behind every rescue, every meal, and every animal who finds safety within S.P.A.'s walls.

Big hearts make BIG things happen!

Thanks to the incredible help of Josh C., Aloha Aviators was proud to donate TWO bicycles to Rebekah Children’s Services!

And of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of Athena and Aria — mahalo nui loa for donating the bikes that started it all!

A special shoutout to the amazing Daisy, who came to the airport and is personally delivering these bikes to two girls in foster care.

This is what community is ALL about - it truly takes a village!

Members Honor Air Traffic Controllers with Care Packages

When a government shutdown threatened to leave air traffic controllers without pay, Aloha Aviators members from San José State University turned a class assignment into a community-wide act of gratitude — and they delivered.

Led by student pilot Shubkarman Kaur ('29, Aeronautics) and inspired by Professor Nobi Buntin, the class launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the tower staff at Reid-Hillview Airport who continued reporting to work through the uncertainty. The response was overwhelming. Donors from across the community helped the class surpass their $1,000 goal, raising $1,127 in total.

On November 9, the students visited the tower crew with Vietnamese sandwiches and gift certificates from Nice Air Aviation, LLC — a small but meaningful token of appreciation for the professionals who guide student pilots through every pattern entry, imperfect radio call, and first solo flight. The controllers, many of whom work daily with SJSU's student pilots, were moved by the gesture.

Energized by the community's generosity, the students followed up with a second mission: holiday care baskets for controllers at Reid-Hillview and neighboring towers. Each basket included healthy snacks, Uber Eats gift cards, and handwritten thank-you notes from student pilots.

The project reflects a lesson at the heart of Buntin's teaching — that aviation is not only a technical discipline, but a calling rooted in stewardship and community care. For these young aviators, the controllers are more than voices on a frequency. They are mentors, patient and steady, who help student pilots feel safe and grow.

Thank you to every donor and community member who made this possible.

LEAHI HEALTH
Back-to-School Supplies

Mahalo plenty to Leahi Health for donating all the Back-to-School supplies that made this mission possible! With their generosity, Aaron (my wingman) we delivered much-needed supplies to the keiki at Victory Family Services just in time for the new school year.
On August 25, 2025, Aloha Aviators took to the skies with a mission close to our hearts — ensuring that no child walks through their classroom door empty-handed on the first day of school.

Through our Back-to-School With Aloha Aviators campaign, our volunteer pilots loaded their aircraft with donated backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene kits — and flew them to Bakersfield, CA. These weren't just deliveries. They were a declaration that every child deserves to begin a new school year with dignity, confidence, and the tools to succeed.

The response from our community was nothing short of extraordinary — and none of it would have been possible without the generous support of Leahi Health, whose donation served as the heartbeat of this entire mission. Their commitment to community well-being gave our campaign the lift it needed to get off the ground. Additional donors contributed backpacks, notebooks, pencils, hygiene products, and monetary donations that allowed us to stretch every dollar directly toward the children who needed it most. True to our commitment, every cent went straight to the mission — no overhead, no salaries, just compassion in action.

Our pilots were proud to combine purpose with their training flights, turning hours in the air into life-changing moments on the ground. Watching a child light up over a brand-new backpack filled with fresh supplies is exactly why we fly.

We are deeply grateful to Leahi Health, every donor, volunteer, and community champion who made this mission soar. Your generosity didn't just fill a backpack — it launched a child into their school year with hope and possibility.

Wings of Compassion:
Aloha Aviators Making a Difference

Rescue Flight: Fresno to Concord
The skies were clear and our hearts were full as Ken and Nobi embarked on a special mission. Our passengers? Two tiny souls with big futures ahead—Chipi the Chihuahua puppy and Katie the kitten—both rescued from abandonment in Fresno and bound for their forever home in Concord.

As members of the Aloha Aviators community, we're privileged to use our skills and aircraft for missions that truly matter. This transport flight exemplifies what our organization stands for: using aviation as a force for positive change in our communities.

The magic of these missions lies not just in the flight itself, but in the beautiful network of compassion that makes them possible. We extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who played a part:

- The kindhearted individuals who initially rescued Chipi and Katie when they were abandoned
- The dedicated foster families who opened their homes and hearts, providing temporary safe havens
- Our fellow Aloha Aviator Ken, who generously shared his aircraft and expertise
- The forever family in Concord, ready to give these little ones the loving home they deserve

It's humbling to be just one link in this remarkable chain of kindness. Each rescue flight reminds us why we became pilots in the first place- not just for the joy of flying, but for the incredible privilege of serving others through aviation.

"When we combine our passion for flight with our compassion for those in need, the sky is truly no limit." - Aloha Aviators motto

If you're an Aloha Aviator interested in participating in animal rescue transport missions, please contact us at [email protected]. These experiences are as rewarding as they are important, and we're always looking for more pilots and volunteers to join this life-saving effort.

Picture
We are proud to announce that Aloha Aviators has successfully completed our supply mission for wildfire-affected families. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the dedication of our volunteer pilots, essential hygiene items and baby supplies have been delivered directly to those who needed them most.

What began as a call to action became something far greater — a demonstration of what neighbors can do for one another when they show up. Our pilots took to the skies, and our supporters responded with open hearts. Every dollar donated went exactly where it was promised: to the families on the ground.

Hygiene essentials and baby supplies — items that restore a sense of normalcy and dignity in the hardest of times — are now where they belong. This mission reflects everything Aloha Aviators stands for: serving our communities with purpose, care, and aloha.

To everyone who donated, shared, and believed in this mission — mahalo nui loa. You made this possible. We will continue to stand ready to serve when our communities need us most.

MELE KALIKIMAKA — MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
We were absolutely OVERJOYED to announce that our McCrossan Boys Ranch Holiday Mission was a complete and resounding success!

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of The Low Foundation and Mr. & Mrs. Steck, we reached our $2,000 goal — and 40 teenage boys at McCrossan Boys Ranch woke up this holiday season knowing their community saw them, valued them, and cared deeply about them.

About McCrossan Boys Ranch
S

The Ranch provides a safe, structured home with an accredited year-round school to help them catch up academically, plus an Independent Living program that supported young men up to age 21 — equipping them with real-world skills like cooking, financial management, and community employment so they could step into adulthood with confidence.

For many of these boys, there was no home to go back to this holiday season. McCrossan is their home.

The generosity of The Low Foundation and Mr. & Mrs. Steck made it possible to gift very one of those 40 young men received a stocking filled with MP3 players, healthy snacks, and treats — a small but powerful reminder that they were not forgotten. Mahalo nui loa. Your aloha reached all the way to South Dakota and touched these young men.

Volunteer Pilots Swoop In to Save Shelter Dogs

In a heartwarming display of selflessness, the renowned Aloha Aviators, known for their motto "Flyin' Planes and Savin' Lives," have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. This time, their noble mission took to the skies as they embarked on a remarkable journey to rescue two furry companions from the brink of an unthinkable fate.

Ken and Nobi, the dynamic team behind the Aloha Aviators, didn't hesitate to take action when the call for help rang out. Undeterred by distance, they rented a single-propeller plane and embarked on a daring flight from San Jose, CA to Camarillo, CA, their sights set on saving the lives of two innocent pups facing an uncertain future at a kill shelter.

With grace and determination, the Aloha Aviators navigated the skies, their hearts soaring with each mile traversed. Upon arriving at their destination, they welcomed the fortunate canines onboard, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey to their forever homes, where they will be showered with love and affection.

This extraordinary act of kindness exemplifies the true spirit of the Aloha Aviators, whose generosity and compassion know no bounds. Both Ken and Nobi volunteered their time, resources, and unwavering dedication to make this mission a resounding success, proving that even the smallest of gestures can have a profound impact on the lives of those in need.

The Aloha Aviators' commitment to their cause is an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the power of collective action and the difference we can make when we come together for a greater purpose. If you too wish to contribute to their noble endeavors, please reach out to the Aloha Aviators at [email protected] and join them in their quest to spread kindness, one paw print at a time.

Taylor's Emergency Operation!

March 2024

Tayler's Heartwarming Rescue
Ting & Nobi Soar to New Heights

What began as another day in the cockpit quickly turned into a mission of pure joy and heartwarming fulfillment for Nice Air (San Jose, CA) flight instructors Ting Lee and Nobi Buntin. Ting and Nobi volunteer as pilots for Aloha Aviators, a remarkable non-profit organization that conducts charitable flights to support underprivileged communities, animal rescues, while assisting minorities and novice aviators in their flight training with unwavering dedication. On March 26, they had the immense honor and privilege of using their wings to rescue an adorable pup named Tayler from Bishop, CA, and fly him to his forever home at K9 Harmony in Sacramento, CA.

Thanks to Shana's stellar coordination efforts and compassionate heart, this Pilot N Paws operation went off without a hitch, spreading joy and happiness along the way. Ting and Nobi put their flying skills to the ultimate test as they navigated their trusty Cessna 172, avoiding terrain and skillfully flying around the majestic Sierra Mountains instead of subjecting Tayler to a grueling six-hour drive on winding bumpy roads.

The dynamic duo, with Tayler (Weimaraner) as their delightful copilot, soared to record-breaking heights on this miraculous mission of kindness. At a lofty 12,300 feet and -10°C, they reached the highest altitude Ting and Nobi had ever flown in a general aviation aircraft, their spirits soaring even higher with each mile they covered. Their 8.4-hour journey also marked the longest they've spent in the skies during a single flight, but every minute was filled with a sense of purpose and the warmth of doing good.

However, records weren't the only things shattered that day – their hearts melted with joy when they first met their distinguished passenger Tayler and Joel Figueroa, MS, DVM, from Bishop Veterinary Hospital. The charming Weimaraner pup, recovering from hip surgery thanks to the amazing Joel Figueroa, was an absolute dream on the marathon trip. While he gazed longingly out the window now and then, likely missing his vet friend Joel, Tayler maintained impeccable behavior worthy of a seasoned traveler, spreading cheerfulness throughout the journey.

Touching down in Sacramento was a bittersweet yet heartwarming moment as Ting and Nobi said farewell to their new four-legged pal. But Kathleen's infectious grin and warm embrace as she whisked Tayler off to K9 Harmony made it all worthwhile, filling their hearts with a sense of accomplishment and pure bliss. This rescue flight will forever hold a pawprint in their hearts as the longest yet most rewarding and fulfilling journey of their flying careers.

Tayler's bright future lies ahead at K9 Harmony, filled with love, care, and a forever family. For his heroic pilots, Ting and Nobi, the memories of reaching new heights—literally and figuratively—will keep their spirits soaring for years to come, forever inspired by the joy of making a positive difference in the world, one heartwarming rescue at a time.

Holiday Meals Delivered to Lahaina Wildfire Survivors

The Rebuild Maui Project and Aloha Aviators are proud to announce the successful completion of our holiday meal mission for the survivors of the devastating Lahaina wildfires.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the tireless dedication of our volunteers, we were able to source and distribute holiday meals directly to families and individuals whose lives were upended by this tragic disaster. The joy and gratitude on the faces of those we served was the only reward our volunteers ever sought — and it was priceless.

The Rebuild Maui Project and Aloha Aviators are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization driven entirely by community spirit and the Aloha spirit. Every team member gives their time selflessly, with no personal gain — only the fulfillment of making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

When wildfires tore through Lahaina, leaving behind lost lives, shattered families, and the ruins of cherished historic landmarks, our team of dedicated volunteer aviators mobilized. We sourced essential items and coordinated distribution efforts to reach those most affected — and this holiday season, that effort culminated in warm meals delivered to survivors in need.

This mission would not have been possible without YOU. The support of our donors and community made this relief effort a reality — a true demonstration of unity, compassion, and resilience.

Lahaina is rebuilding. And together, we are helping it rise stronger.

Thank you to every donor, every volunteer, and every member of our community who stood by Lahaina when it mattered most.

Caring for Feral Cats
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

We are proud to announce the successful completion of our feral cat relief mission in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. What began as a community call to action became a meaningful effort to reduce suffering, restore health, and bring lasting change to a growing population of cats in urgent need.

When our team arrived, we found cats struggling with starvation, illness, and the compounding hardships of overpopulation. Through the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, we were able to provide food, veterinary care, spaying, and neutering — addressing both the immediate suffering of individual animals and the long-term challenge of population growth.

At just $30 per cat, every donation directly funded food and sterilization services whose positive effects will be felt for years to come. A stable, healthier feral cat population benefits not only the animals themselves but the broader community of San Miguel de Allende.

This mission stands as a testament to what a community can accomplish when it comes together around a shared commitment to compassion. The Aloha Aviators extend our deepest gratitude to every person who donated, shared our campaign, or offered their time and energy to make this possible.

Thank you for helping us make a difference.
